| This UK walking holiday starts in Plymouth, Wembury or Ivybridge, in Devon on the southern edge of Dartmoor. The hiking trail crosses some of the remotest parts of Dartmoor before you walk across the unspoilt rural countryside between Dartmoor National Park and Exmoor National Park. 1: Arrive at Wembury, Plymouth or Ivybridge To start this walking holiday on the south coast of Devon you can begin at either Wembury or Plymouth. These are 2 good places to intersect with the South West Coast Path. Alternatively you can start from Ivybridge if you wish to skip this section from the coast and start on the Two Moors Way "proper". |

2: Plymouth or Wembury to Ivybridge
15 miles optional day Today you walk on the Erme-Plym Trail through undulating countryside to Ivybridge. |

3: Ivybridge to Scorriton 12
miles The Two Moors Way heads up onto open moorland initially following an old tramway past several Bronze Age hut circles, stone rows and cairns. You will also see evidence of tin mining activity and disused china clay workings. Then the walking trail makes its way into the quaint Dartmoor village of Scorriton. |

4: Scorriton to Bennett's Cross
14 miles After leaving Scorriton the Two Moors Way goes through the village of Holne then follows the River Dart for a short distance before going along Dr Blackall's Drive. You can visit Widecombe-in-the-Moor, a short detour, before a stunning walk along Hamel Down and past Grimspound, one of the best preserved Bronze Age enclosures on Dartmoor. Today's walk ends at the 13th century Bennett's Cross. |

5: Bennett's Cross to Chagford
7 miles Today you are walking across Chagford Common where you will see a well preserved double stone row and hut circles. Then you drop down into the wooded and picturesque Teign Valley which you follow into Chagford. Chagford was one of the Stannery towns to which all tin found on Dartmoor had to be brought for assay and stamping in Mediaeval times. Later it became an important centre for the wool industry. At Chagford the Two Moors Way intersects with the Dartmoor Way. |

6: Chagford to Coleford 12
miles Today you continue walking along the River Teign into Teign Gorge, past Castle Drogo and into Drewsteignton. As you head out of Drewsteignton you are leaving Dartmoor behind and walking through Devon farmland to Coleford. |

8: Black Dog to Knowstone 12
miles Today you walk through the villages of Washford Pyne and Witheridge before the Two Moors Way goes alongside the Little Dart River for a short distance. Now you can see Exmoor in the distance and soon you reach Knowstone. |

9: Knowstone to Withypool 14
miles After leaving Knowstone you walk through the village of West Anstey, then the Two Moors Way enters Exmoor National Park and you reach the village of Hawkridge, where the Two Moors Way intersects with the Exe Valley Way. You cross the River Barle by Tarr Steps, an ancient clapper bridge, then follow the River Barle into Withypool. |

miles After leaving Simonsbath the Two Moors Way visits Exe Head, the source of the River Exe. Then a glorious walk across Exmoor and down Myrtleberry Cleave to Lynmouth on the north coast of Devon. Here the Two Moors Way intersects with the South West Coast Path once again. |
